***Update to the Wade Hollow Reroute.*** At noon today the reroute pictured here was completed and made possible by one of our current long time landowners to eliminate the majority of the road riding of the original reroute. Please show this landowner complete respect by keeping the speed and noise down! The new trail is marked well so there should be no confusion. Stay on the trail and between the stakes! Ride Safe!!!

1/30/2022

CAUTION: if you’re out on C5B near Newark Valley tonight, use caution between Sherry Lipe and Gage Rd. The Jimmy Groomer is broke down on the trail in the woods. We’ll work on getting it removed in the day light.

Besides that, alsmost the entire TRR trail system has been groomed over the past 2 days. From Nichols to Berkshire trails are about as flat as they'll ever be. Get out and ride (safely) and enjoy!

1/17/2022

We got some snow!

The trail captains have been out to assess trail conditions. As of right now, most of our trails are open. We have a few trails that can not be opened due to various issues:
- Trail S21 from the Owego Moose to Nichols/Tioga Downs will remain closed until further notice.
- Trail 547 to Subway in Newark Valley is closed.
- Trail 554 north of Maine is closed.
- Trail S57 from Foster Valley Rd to Teeter Rd is not signed.
Groomers will not be out due to lack of snow and base. Use extreme caution when riding. Watch for down trees, stumps, and other hazards.
Please stay on the trail and respect our landowners.
The NYSSA Web App and Mobile App have been updated.

12/24/2021

May be an image of text that says 'TRAILS CLOSED PLEASE STAY OFF UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE'

Due to the DEC’s implemented “Holiday Hunt”, in the SOUTHERN hunting zone our trails cannot open until January 2nd 2022.
This will also depend on if we have the trails all marked and safe to use as well as having enough snow to protect landowners property.
Some trail captains will be signing this week after the late bow season ends December 21st and before the Holiday hunt begins December 26th while others will be checking trails for blow downs after the high winds we've had and then signing after January 1st.
If anyone is available for this or signing after the January 1st send a message to this page, comment below or get in touch with the trail captains in your area.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and hope that this additional hunt doesn't affect the season too much.

With the recent warm up and rain, we have decided to close our trails. We're getting reports of bare spots, mud holes, and standing water throughout the trail system. We have come to this decision with Landowner respect and rider safety in-mind. Our neighboring club, the Candor Valley Riders, has also decided to close their trails. Please respect both club’s wishes and stay off the trails for now. Hopefully, with any luck, we can preserve our base if it cools down and we get more snow in the future. It's been a great year, but it's not over yet! Think snow!

02/17/2021

ATTENTION: PLEASE READ
Trail C5B between State Route 38B and Newark Valley-Maine Road has been REOPENED. You MUST obey the signage. The trail has a 15 MPH SPEED LIMIT in the area of Woodlawn Drive and in the SURROUNDING FIELDS. Ride SLOW through this area.
Our VOLUNTEERS have been able to come to an agreement with the LANDOWNERS in this area to allow this trail to reopen on a trial basis. If WE cannot obey the signage and rules, this trail will be PERMANENTLY CLOSED. Please help SPREAD the word to your friends and fellow riders.
A few other things you NEED to consider when riding on ALL of the trails:
1. SLOW DOWN and BE QUIET when around all houses, buildings, and public places. As a snowmobiler YOU have a responsibility to represent the sport in a good manner.
2. STAY ON THE TRAIL and BETWEEN THE STAKES. Our VOLENTEERS work countless hours to stake and sign these trails for YOUR enjoyment. Each stake is placed with careful consideration for a reason! We know it would be easier to “cut that corner” or “avoid that section of road”, but we stake the trail in that way for a specific reason, so stay BETWEEN THE STAKES.
3. RESPECT THE LANDOWNERS! Our LANDOWNERS give us permission to ride on THEIR property while receiving NOTHING in return. Treat their property like it's your property. Slow down. Don't spin your track. Stay BETWEEN the stakes. Pick up your TRASH. Be QUIET.
4. GET RID OF YOUR AFTERMARKET LOUD EXAUST. No one thinks you're cool... Your friends cringe when you ask to ride with them... It's ILLEGAL... And YOU are single-handedly ruining this sport for us.
It takes countless hours from VOLUNTEERS to sign, stake, clear, mow, trim, cut, maintain, groom, obtain permission, and operate these trails. As we ALL learned this week, a few bad apples can ruin our great trail system for everyone. With over 100 miles of trails, the Tioga Ridge Runners volunteers do not have the opportunity to reach every rider and explain these guidelines. We are counting on YOU, our invaluable members, to help out and raise awareness to fellow snowmobilers and the public. Together we can succeed in informing our community, holding each other accountable, making our landowners proud, and continuing to bring pride to a sport that many of our parents helped to build. Let’s never stop improving. We can all be better ambassadors for our sport.

02/14/2021

Due to landowner concerns of excessive speed near residential homes on Woodland Drive, C5B will be closed from Junction TIOG22 to Junction TIOG5 (Basically between State Route 38B and Newark Valley-Maine Road)
We appreciate your respect and cooperation. This will take effect 6am on Sunday morning 2/14/21.

1/28/2021: Our trails NORTH of the Moose, and on the southside of Owego are open. We received a few inches of unexpected snow over the past couple of days, and conditions are decent in the feilds and thin but passable in the woods and low lying areas.

We are asking that people stay off the new trail between Owego and Nichols, as the coverage in Tioga Center is not great.

Please be careful out there!

Just so there's no confusion trails are still closed. There are many trails that are bare after the rain and we are struggling to get the trails signed which is also a requirement to open the trails as well as adequate snow cover. There are also many areas of suspended ice from the recent flooding that would be very dangerous to ride on. There are many hazards on our system along with minimal snow cover.

3/16/2020:

In light of the current events that are going on, all future meetings and events for the Tioga Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club are canceled until further notice.

Please pass this on to anybody that you may know that may be coming to any of our meetings that would not receive this message.

Thank you.

2/23/2020: IMPORTANT!!! MEETING LOCATION AND TIME HAS CHANGED! See above for new meeting details.

2/7/20: Everyone - Although we did get around 8" of snow, we had so much rain prior to that there are entire sections of trail that are flooded, and enormous wet spots everywhere.

For that reason we are keeping the trails officially closed. Thanks for your understanding.

Got the mower fired up today and cut some brambles behind Spaulding Hill in Owego as the snow was flying. Trail should be nice once we get some more snow.

Those of you who enjoyed being stuck in the putrid swamp between King Cross and Cambell Hill Rd. will be dissapointed, as there's now a mat bridging the area.

Just waiting for snow now!

Twas a nice day for signing today. Winter is officially here! Hopefully after these next few warm days we can get some snow to stick around and open these trails up!

Be sure and check out the new NYSSA trail app in the Google Play Store. Apple version coming soon!

No photo description available.

REMINDER - TRAILS ARE CLOSED DURING HUNTING SEASON REGARDLESS OF HOW MUCH SNOW IS ON THE GROUND!!

Trails still need to be inspected and signed after hunting season ends, so trails will remain closed until that process is complete.

2/3/2019: Hoping this doesn't need to be said.....but we're going to say it anyway. Trails are closed until further notice! Please share and respect our landowners until the cold and snow comes back.

1/29/2019 With much deliberation, scouting and discussion with trail captains we are going to open the trails with the warning that riders are going to have to use extreme caution. We still have a lot of icy spots and light coverage. Please ride carefully and respectfully to our landowners. We have heard there might be a water issue near Goodrich Rd. on the way to the Moose and also near Winchell Rd. so please use caution in those areas. Please also let us know of any other hazards you may come across so no one ends up getting hurt.

Well here we go again. Just get a good start and now the forecast is for higher temps and rain tomorrow and tomorrow night. Please stay off the trails 1/23/19 until further notice so we don't end up with trails like this photo:

1/21/2019:

Trails are open, and various parts of the system groomed over the past couple of days. Hopefully the warmup is brief and our trails make it through to this weekend.

Lots of signing work underway to get our almost 70 mile trail system in order and safe for snowmobilers. Thanks to all who are able to help.

1/16/18: Trail update:

Riding in no way is decent but if you do ride use extreme caution. We found lots of branches down in areas we inspected so I'm sure there are more in other areas. If you come across any limbs take a minute to throw them off the trail instead of running over them and packing them in the trail. Ride safe and between the stakes if you must!

S21 between Ballou Road and West Beecher Hill Road in Owego has been re-routed on Ballou. Please follow the signs and use caution.

1/5/2014: Let's start this season off the right way. Please remember if you spin your track to the dirt we have a Dirtmobile trail not a Snowmobile trail! If you see sticks and rocks in the trail, please stop and remove them. Many hands make light work. If our groomer operators have to stop and remove them it takes away from their grooming time. If you see an obstacle on the trail that you cant safely remove, please let one of our trail captains or a club officer know. Think snow. And please be careful, have fun, ride right and between the stakes.

All of our corridor and secondary trails have been groomed at some point over the weekend. We are hoping this rain won't damage too much and if everyone stays off the trails while it is warm out we should come out with a decent start to a base when the temperatures get cold again and we get more snow.

1/2/2014: The club meeting tonight is cancelled! Metro's is closed!

* Please remember that snowmobile trails are closed regardless of snow cover, until after hunting season ends. Trails open no earlier than 12/18/2013, provided adequate snow cover (6"). Thanks!

Snowmobile safety course will be offered again this year. See forum post for details: http://www.tiogaridgerunners.com/smf/index.php?topic=89.0

1/9/2013:

Well that was a nice tease to the start of the season. Hopefully we get some more cold weather after this weekend. Until then, our trails should be considered to be closed, as we're down to mud and dirt at many road crossings, and the weather is only expected to get warmer as we head into this weekend.
